“Pétalos” is a one-person dance created by Majo Pérez Castro that proposes to honor the life-death-life cycle. It is a work that embodies the offering and the ritual from gestures and sound, through wind and vocals. Performative actions build an offering to embrace the affections around death. Today love dances, vulnerability, the drive for survival, the embrace of mystery, the need for a collective ritual to remember and honor those who have left, as well as a flowery longing for hope. It is presented within the framework of the Cult of the Dead Festival in Tlayacapan, Morelos.
