La Red Temática “Estudios Críticos del Agua” (“Critical Water Studies” Thematic Network) announces the recent digital publication of the work “Dialogue of knowledge, experiences and studies of water in Mexico”, which integrates valuable reflections and multidisciplinary approaches on the problems of water in the country. This collective book, which is part of the Permanent Seminar on Problems and Studies of Water in the State of Mexico, brings together the voices of communities, collectives, activists, students and researchers committed to a critical and broad vision of water, a vital resource that is increasingly vulnerable.
Within this publication, there is the chapter entitled “Modes of listening and awareness about our relationship with water: towards sound art and interspecies environmental education”, which I had the pleasure of writing alongside my friends Oliver Hernández and Aketzalli Rueda. This work proposes an approach to current water problems and their community implications, highlighting the importance of active listening and awareness through sound art. Through this proposal, we seek to promote a conscious and respectful dialogue between species, contributing to rethinking our relationship with water and, therefore, with the natural environment that sustains us.
